The workflow in detail
From selecting your parts to preparing them for printing, PartInspector helps you systematically assess even large inventories of parts, compare print configurations and identify suitable candidates for FDM 3D printing.
The clearly structured workflow guides you through the analysis process, step by step.
Select parts
Import your 3D data and select the components you want to analyze. PartInspector supports STEP and STL files, enabling you to process even large inventories of components efficiently.
Select a top-level folder to find supported files, including files in subfolders. You can select individual parts or import complete assemblies and split them into separate parts. You can then analyze each part individually and organize them into projects.
Import with ease. Select with precision. Get started with structure.
Define requirements
Every part has different manufacturing requirements. So first decide which properties and constraints are most relevant to your needs. The available settings let you tailor the analysis to your specific requirements.
You can use defined custom surfaces to focus on specific areas of a component. You can also define a load case if needed: select surfaces for the constraints and force application, then specify the force direction and magnitude to include available FEA calculations in the assessment.
The right settings for your needs.
Start analysis
Start analyzing your selected parts in just a few steps. PartInspector examines the geometry and identifies possible print orientations. It calculates the available metrics for each orientation, allowing you to compare the options using consistent criteria.
Depending on the configuration, the analysis may include geometric properties, support requirements, print time and costs, for example. If a load case has been defined, FEA results can also be included in the assessment.
Larger inventories of parts can also be systematically analyzed this way. This reduces the effort required for manual comparisons and makes it easier to shortlist suitable candidates.
Less manual work. More ways to compare.
Review results
Once the analysis is complete, the identified print orientations and their available metrics are ready for comparison. This helps you see how different options affect technical and economic criteria.
In the integrated 3D viewer, you can view individual orientations and examine relevant areas of the geometry in greater detail. Combining a visual representation with key figures helps you identify anomalies and assess the results against your requirements.
The clear overview helps you keep track of even large numbers of analyzed components and select suitable candidates for further evaluation.
Results at a glance. Spot differences with precision.
Select configuration
Choose the build orientation that best suits your needs. The available metrics help you weigh technical and economic considerations and make an informed choice.
Export individual components as STL files in your chosen print orientation. The orientation is preserved, so the model is already positioned correctly when opened in the slicer.
Batch export is available for larger inventories. It lets you export the highest-rated print orientations for multiple components in one step and use the results to prepare print jobs.
From analysis to the right print configuration.
